We spend a lot of time exploring the songs, music and dances of other countries in second grade. It's a nice tie in to the work students do in their emigration unit in the classroom. These last couple of weeks we've been enjoying exploring Australia. We've enjoyed the many wonderful sounds of our classroom didgeridoo, created and moved to all kinds of rhythm patterns created using the names of animals of Australia ("croc-o-dile, wom-bat, cass-o-war-y, kangaroo...") and of course have been singing some Australian songs.
