Grade Two students have been honing their ability to differentiate between two rhythm patterns and identify whether they are the same or different - an important skill to acquire as they delve more deeply into creating, performing and analyzing rhythm patterns with increasing complexity. Grade Three students have been playing with partwork - the ability to maintain a musical part while another one is playing at the same time. They do that by playing with a variety of ostinati. An ostinato is a short repeating pattern and a really fun and effective way to build partwork skills. This month we are exploring rhythmic ostinati.
